English: Learn It Or Get Left Behind

AS an English language and linguistics teacher and lecturer, who taught in secondary schools for seven years and at the University of Malaya for 25 years, I applaud the university's vice-chancellor Datuk Professor Datuk Dr Ghauth Jasmon's call for renewed vigour in the teaching and learning of English in the country's oldest university.
