KUALA LUMPUR: Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has advised the public not to consume potassium iodide pills as a protection against radiation poisoning.
He said the people should not panic and resort to such measures over rumours that radiation from the quake-crippled nuclear plant in Fukushima had spread to Malaysia.
“I hope the public, especially pregnant women, would not consume the (potassium iodide) pills without a doctor’s advice.”
